Living Life to the Fullest!

"The whole secret of life is to be interested in one thing profoundly and in a thousand things as well. " - Horace Walpole
One of the idiosyncrasies I have is that I often look for quotes/idioms/maxims/proverbs/sayings or whatever it is called and reflect on life based on those quotes. Most of the time, I choose the quotes that I can relate to or which affect me.
So the above quote has made me think and reflect which are the things I am interested with or passionate about. And those are:
1. READING - This is the one thing that I am most passionate about. It is part of my daily routine - I have to read something every night especially before going to bed. In fact, I can even say that I hunger for reading like a beggar who hasnt eaten for days. LOL! I could forsake anything - except this.
2. MUSIC - I dont have any musical talent whatsoever. I have already learned to accept this fact after my several failed attempts to try to learn how to play any musical instruments. Yet, I love music. It soothes me, it can convey a very deep message - like love and friendship and life. Music has never failed to lighten my mood.
3. GOOD CONVERSATION - In our home before, we always talk and talk - sometimes our dinner went on for hours because we would stay on the table and just talk about anything. Or sometimes, after watching TV, we were gathered in the living room and talk about anything from the seriousness of politics or religion and sometimes top each others's funny stories. That is why, when I came to live with our father's side of the family here in Kuwait, I can see the difference. Sometimes, I miss having a good conversation with someone. Now, it's no wonder why I got so involved in online discussion boards.
4. WRITING. Actually, I can say that I am a reluctant writer. I have never dreamt of becoming one until I was in High School. This desire was prompted I guess by my friends. They used to tell me that I can write and I used to kid them that maybe they're just saying that because i am sharing my homework with them. But in every essay assignment that we have, they always let me check their work. LOL! Then I tried writing on my own like poems and short stories - until I just found myself writing letters for the family and even the valedictory speech of our brother when he graduated from grade school. :D At the course of my writing, I found it therapeutic. I can pour out all my thoughts and emotions on my writing - especially when I am angry - and without blurting out loud things that might hurt the person I'm angry at.
5. PRAYERS/CHURCH/GOD - This might be just a cliche or the right thing to say to some but for me, I mean it. :D I guess, growing up going to Church every Sunday and praying the Rosary at night did this. And especially when I was in High School, studying at a Catholic School, I have learned the importance of prayer and the true meaning of hearing mass. I could say my relationship with HIM became stronger. We have not studied about Bible alone, but rather, I learned so much about life and relationships - which I am only realizing at lot more now. I could say I have matured spiritually when I was in High School and I guess that might have prompted me to want to become a nun then. If I miss going to Mass, my week seemed incomplete.
7. SKETCHING - I am a partially frustrated artist. I cannot draw very well but I can sketch landscape, flowers and any simple design using pens, pencils, crayons and watercolor. Sometimes, the desire just spring at an unexpected time and I would take time to sketch. I guess I have inherited only a portion of our uncle's gene. LOL! But hey, I was the Artist of the Year when we graduated from grade school. I submitted a sketch for judging, I remember now. LOL! Guess I could add that to my art accomplishment. :D I am just impatient to draw a person's face or complicated things correctly.
8. COMPUTER - It seems that computer has become a personal necessity for everyone these days. However, I am passionate about computer in the sense that it enables me to do all these things I am passionate about. LOL! I can download anything I want to read easily now, I can write of course in the computer without my hands hurting too much, I can listen to music with computer too, I can have a good conversation with anyone and of course, I can design/create artistic stuffs with computers. I guess I should thank God for Bill Gates huh? :D :D
9. FRIENDS - I am a very loyal friend and as far as I'm concerned, my friends could do no wrong. I treasure all my friends and I love them more than some of my relatives. LOL! :D They make my life happier and in fact, they were the reason why I love took forward going to school then. :D Now, I look forward to being online everyday... I wonder why? LOL!
10. FAMILY - last but not the least of course. When I was in college and when Nanay and I fought, I always say then that I wanted to finish school ASAP and live away from their meddling. Well, I got my wish when we came to Kuwait. But sadly, I realize and only seen their importance after spending two years here. I miss them sometimes.
Back to the quote, the things that interest me doesnt reach a dozen, but I think these would be enough to keep on going and living my life to the fullest. Well, maybe five years from now, there will already be someone special in my life that would make my life more interesting. :D
